More on Dal and UNBSJ

Back to Dalhousie, before I had to leave the wifi zone...
One of the most interesting things about Dalhousie is that it interacts with another college, called King's College (the half I mentioned earlier.) King's is on the Dal campus, but it's a separate college entity. However, they are closely affiliated; one can take a course at King's and five courses at Dal in the same year with no problems and little paperwork.
University of New Brunswick (Saint John) was a lot of fun; we got lost in Saint John getting there because of thick, almost pea-soup fog. It was disgusting to drive in, but a lot of fun to walk through. UNB is also connected by corridors to every building, like St. Mary's, but it's really small, especially for a university. St. John had four hundred students graduate last year. However, that appeals to me somewhat; I think I'd get lost in the greater than 15,000 (no joke) undergrads at Dal every year.
Links to each university are below.

University hunting

The last week and a half, I've been in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick for the first vacation out of country in over three years. It's beautiful up there, and I really enjoyed it. I also looked at universities up there. (My parents are finally college-hunting! YES!) Nova Scotia is home to over five exceptional universities, but I only visited three...well, call it three and a half. Saint Mary's University was the first I visited. It's rather small, but the entire university is connected by ground-level corridors. The easiest way to tell whether students are in residence (Americans would call them dorms) is what they're wearing; if they're wearing filp-flops and tank tops when snow's on the ground, they're in residence--they don't have to walk outside to get to class, so why dress according to the weather?
I visited Dalhousie University the day after. It has one of the most beautiful campuses I've seen, and THE MOST CRAZY AWESOME sports center! Called the "dalplex," it's a sports center held up entirely by air pressure. 600 students took their exams there last year. Insane stuff.
Dalhousie also has a cool medical program; I'm interested in going for a medical degree, but I'm not sure what I'd be good at. Not pediatrician, for sure...

Okay, my parents want me off the laptop. Weeeelll, tell you more about Dal and ALL about UNBSJ (university of New Brunwick, St. John campus) tomorrow. See ya around :)

I guess I have a 2o-second attention span...I've decided to follow some of the photo and literary memes. Heads up :)

Last Saturday: Free fencing

I enjoy a pool as much as any other foilist. Last Saturday at practice, there were only six electric fencers around, so someone suggested we do a pool and treat it like an informal competition. It was a lot of fun, and a lot of variation in style and ability--for example, one boy had just started electric while another had gone to the Nationals last year. I enjoyed fencing all my opponents, but was saddened when [BOTH!] body cords were broken and I had to forfeit my last two bouts. Ah, well. There's always next week.
